Hemianthus callitrichoides is commonly known as Cuba. It is very popular plant in aquascaping because of its ability to form the lush green carpet. Cuba is one of the smallest aquarium plants in the world, and creeps over the bottom with millimeter sized round leaves. It is required to trim with scissors when it starts to look a little bit too long. High demands including high levels of CO2 and light help this plant grow close to substrate. When dense carpet is achieved, Hemianthus callitrichoides produces oxygen bubbles, known as “perling”. This looks very attractive when the lights are on and reflecting off the bubbles.
